A typical bastide town in the Entre-deux-Mers

Pêche de Vigne is on the outskirts of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne – a Bastide founded in 1281 by King Edward I of England. It has the typical Bastide grid layout with a central market square surrounded by stone houses and the signature arcades on the ground floor, sheltering shops and restaurants.

The weekly market on Tuesday morning is a good opportunity to visit the town and have a look around, with maybe a visit to the church of Notre Dame de Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.

The Roger Lapébie bike path links Sauveterre to Bordeaux. The cycle path provides an uninterrupted ride along an old railway line.

You can stop along the way to visit Creon or the magnificent Abbey at la Sauve-Majeure.
